He puko'a kani 'aina (be like coral growing ...) "Nirvana is our Game!"

    synonyms:paradiseheavenMore
    • another term for moksha.
    • a state of perfect happiness; an ideal or idyllic place.

This is a home cooking post however the evidence of food digests nicely in our bellies rather than on the blog page. And while we're at it a switch in roles has Pete behind the camera for his premiere video taping catching Moki wrapped up in grating zucchini for a special request. A request for Nirvana! It all started innocently enough a few days ago. Our friend had knee surgery. She needed something to soothe. Someone (the nurse) said something about applesauce. She told me about it.

I said, "We have applesauce, Gravenstein applesauce." Pete and I ended up driving north to West Beach (where our friends live). The email note I got a few hours later read, "Applesauce was Nirvana."

That did it. "Nirvana is our Game!" was born from the necessary of a meal delivered ... like those coral polyps finding the perfect place to land and begin their most exquisite reef building.

So, here's Moki making meatloaf and playing(with a little directing) at "Nirvana is our Game!" I think it is a most delightful expression of what we started years ago in the Safety Pin Cafe. Common magic for uncommon necessity.

xoxo Mokihana and Pete
